Question Hi - I was looking for some information and found a similar issue with someone who asked you a question 6/27/2007. I recently was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism, am on Coumadin now for the past 2 weeks. Approx. 1 week after went to the ER with flank pain on both sides. They did a CT scan to rule out kidney stones and sent me home. The pain comes and goes but happens every day since the ER. I was wondering if you have had other complaints of this type and is it just the body healing from the PE?
Answer you didn't say how high the pain was... sometimes it can be lower lung causing the side/back pain. It is hard to figure what is causing it now.... when someone has a PE... they have probably had other blood clots. So overall, I am not sure, but get it worked up thoroughly if it keeps up.
