Family, Internal Medicine, General Medical Questions - Growth on big toe

Expert: Robert Borucki - 11/9/2009

Question
I developped a growth on the top right-hand side of my big toe over the summer. At first I felt it was a blister since I walk a great deal. However, the lump, which was soft and seemed filled with a clear liquid, did not go away.

Answer
it is hard to tell without seeing it or seeing a really good picture of it.... things that come to mind are a wart, a small smoldering infection, possibly a giant cell tumor (not cancer, just a slow growing piece of tissue somewhere where it should not be)  I would be tempted to have it removed or at least a biopsy since you have had it for months.   It could also be a simple cyst, a fluid filled sac... but if someone looks at it they may be able to tell.
