Question My younger brother suffered from a massive stroke in 06 42 years old. he had had complication after complication and has really never recovered. He is in Las Vegas Every time he starts moving forward he relapse with something. First it was a pace maker that was said he needed it gat infected his body rejected it and the doctor ended up saying he didn’t need one he was fine then he had more complications and they discovered a small hole in his hart and said he need to have it taken care of. Well he has been going through tons of this kind of stuff after two years he finally got the hart operation he is in and out of the hospital and it seems like they are doing nothing for him. He just went back in and now they are saying he needs a hip replacement. he has never been able to continue therapy all we are looking for is a second opinion is there any way we can have him transfer to UCLA or any other hospital on the west cost that specializes in STROKE victims?
Answer Hi Mike,
You can have him transferred to any hospital you like if you are his medical surrogate or power of attorney. If he is compitent to make his own decisions then he will have to be the one to request a transfer. A transfer like this will be, unfortunately, at his own expense.
