Question I am 30 years of age and have been living with “Epidermolysis Bullosa,” (EB) since birth. I have a place on my right thumb that has been there for more than two years now, and as of early April it has started to burn and stink. Now it’s become very pain-full, and it hurts 95% of the time. I had a skin biopsy done on the 10th of June at the “Med Plex Center” in Memphis, Tennessee and was informed the test showed no sign of cancer. I scheduled another appointment for July the 15th. Is there anything I can do or take to stop the burning, and are there any creams that might work or other medicines that might help control the pain so at least it's tolerable to deal with?
Thanks, Todd
Answer This is a rare enough condition that I don't really know what the best treatment is.... have you tried topical patches like Lidoderm? I would suggest going to a big referral center if the one in Memphis is not.... this illness is rare enough that not a lot of doctors have experience with it....
