I know this may not be your specialty but ANY advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
My name is Paul and I will be 40 in September. I was diagnosed with a Rathe Cleft Cyst back 2003. My physician found the cyst after bloodwork tests showed "the lowest testosterone level he had ever seen in a 34 year old man." I had a number of symptons ranging from weight gain, lack of energy, no sex drive, etc. My physician started me on Androgel and within 3 - 4 months I had dropped over 60 pounds and was feeling normal again. As the years passed it seems that the testosterone was not as effective as it once was. Here is my question. Is it possible that a Rathe Cleft Cyst pressing on my pituitary gland could cause anxiety / panic attacks? I know the pituitary gland controls the adrenal glands and was thinking that maybe the pituitary gland may be releasing some chemical that causes my adrenal glands to release large amounts of adrenalin thus causing these "attacks"? They only happen once or twice a week but when I get one it can last for hours. My symptons are rpid heartbeat, sweating, chest tightness etc. So, my basic question is can a Rathe Cleft Cyst cause anxiety / panic attacks?
Please let me know if you need me to answer questions you may have.
Thank You,
Paul D
Answer I doubt whether there is a direct relationship between panic/anxiety and the cyst.... however there could be a secondary relationship.... possibly the hormone replacement.. or it could be completely unrelated. I would have thyroid tests evaluated as that could be involved also...... hope this helps.
