Question QUESTION: hi, im a 17yo male, 5-8 150lbs....
the past 2 days i have had a stomach ache followed by dirraha... it happens about 1 or 2 times an hour... i have been trying to let it pass, but i just went to the bathroom right now and it was black... i just went a 2nd time and it was super black.
i looked it up on the internet and i am getting sort of scared.
what do you think it is?
ps. i had mono about 2-3 months ago, and have been having some type of tachycadia with my heart in the mornings when i wake up, idk if its related or not...

ANSWER: the tachy may be from dehydration from the diarrhea... if there is no fever.
The black stool is from the pepto bismol you took for the stomach ache/diarrhea. If however, there was no bismuth taken, it could be blood and should be looked at by your doctor, otherwise, go on clear liquids for a day and it should resolve.

i have had the tachy for a couple weeks befor the dirraha came on. it just started sunday/monday.
i have not taken any medicin except for a benidril on tusday for my nose.
after i went running last night is when the black started, then about 2:30 last night the black stoped. aprox 4hours... i went 5-6 times with lots of black, mostly liquid...
if it was blood from a tear, is it likly to happen again, and could it be a reslut from an infection or virus, or would it more likly be caused by somthing else?
ps. the run was more like a jog, not intense, and i had went running monday with the dirraha and had no problems...

Answer at your age, it is unlikely, if not impossible for it to be from cancer. It could be some stomach bleeding from an ulcer or irritation from whatever caused the diarrhea. It is unlikely to be a rectal area tear, otherwise, it would be bright red blood colored. If you have indigestion, you might try some over the counter zantac 150 mg twice a day, but if it occurs again, it would be appropriate to see your doc.
