Family, Internal Medicine, General Medical Questions/DRINK UP

I was wondering would you please explain to me: why can't people have alcohol with medicine?

(P.S would you please try to give your answer in a easy way that I can understand)

alcohol is a drug with side effects and interactions with other medicines.... there are some medications that aren't affected by alcohol and some that are very drastically affected...... so best course of action is to not drink with medications in general...... that is the way the medications were studies initially (without alcohol) and it is difficult to predict what will happen when you add in alcohol
