Answer
Dear Reg,

There are many reasons why a blood pressure medication is prescribed. It is not only to control blood pressure. Chronic hypertension can lead to kidney failure, heart failure, and left ventricular hypertrophy. Before changing the dosage on your mother's blood pressure medication, be sure to discuss this with her doctor. There may be reasons that she should stay on it.
