Hi I was just recently diagnosed with Rosacea and the Dr. prescribed Differin Gel to be used only at night.  Will this help my condition?  I read it is for acne but I don't have acne that much just around my chin area.  Thank you for any information you can give me.

Hi Becky,
That wouldn't have been my first choice. I would try something like metronidazole first. Do you have acne like eruptions on your nose and cheek bones? Are these eruption made worse by certain foods like chocolate and alcohol?
With "acne" on your chin only, I would not think of Rosacea first. Of course I don't have the benefit of a detailed history and a face to face exam.

Hi
No I don't have acne on my nose or cheek bones...I have maybe one or 2 on my chin but I think that is from when I get ready to start my period...the only thing I do have is redness when I work outside in the garden or get over heated my cheeks get red my chin gets red its quite embarassing....couple of weeks ago I was bowling and we were going pretty fast and those areas got really red..this medicine that I am taking stings and burns my face and the Doctor said that this would happen but I don't like it......can you recommend something for me to do?
Thank you
Becky

Answer
Hi Becky,
I would get a second opinion. This does not sound like Rosacea. The medicine you are taking is a potent vitamin A compound and is meant to slough tissue. you may want to hold off using it until you get someone elses opinion as to what is going on.
