I don't know why it works, but since my daughter (bi-polar/depression/adhd) has been taking it I can tell you it does work. If she gets off her med I can defintly tell the difference! she is now 20 and in college and her docotor recently doubled her dosage and she stabalized very quickly and is getting good grades again. She can even tell the difference when she doesn't take it!
