I am pregnant and take Flexeril. My nurse practitioner informed me that this drug is SAFE for pregnancy; hence, she prescribed it.
As far as it being useful for sleep, that was just a bonus for me. I needed the drug for severe back pain. My directions are to take it 2 times a day, but I only take it at night and it knocks me out. I am NOT groggy at all in the morning and I still wake up to go the bathroom so it's not a slugger type of medicine. For me, I have found it induces sleepiness, which helps me sleep. For the record, I have also had horrible insomnia since the beginning of my pregnancy. This drug helps. It has provided wonderful relief!
The previous answer to your question, I believe, instills a bit of fear in that "your baby will not want to come in the world on several medications". That statement is just plain wrong. Your baby isn't "ON" Flexeril and regardless, there are no withdrawl symptons.
Flexeril is safe. Take it if you need it. It helps my back spasms and also helps me sleep. Good luck.
