Question I am a 52 year old female. my father not too long ago had quadruple bypass surgery and now my mother has had a stroke. she is on plavix. i would rather have heart surgery than a stroke should anything happen to me and was wondering if i should start taking plavix now to ward off a stroke if god forbid i have one. would this help? thank you.
Answer Your parents appear to have multiple nutritional problems related to our western food supply which affect their immune systems adversely. You need to see a integrative medicine specialist and they are rare in most regions.
See the Ten Steps to Restoring your health below plus the references your doctor may need since you need most of these. Be sure these are OK with your doctor. Plavix as a prophylactic may not help you as much as removing the excess omega-6 containing foods
There is much to learn and much to do to regain your health but we help people do this every day at our center, The Ohio State University Center for Integrative Medicine.
Ask your doctor but this is what I use for my patients who desire to regain their health:
1) Limit gluten, chips, chicken, turkey, farm-fed fish, peanut products and granola products
2) Fish oil 3x1000mg (900 mg EPA/DHA) before each meal and at bedtime. (If you notice burping take these from the freezer) before meals and at bedtime or take with yogurt, milk or cottage cheese).
3) High Potency B complex, (B-100) just before each meal
4) ½ Centrum Silver or generic equivalent before breakfast and before dinner for trace elements
5) Magnesium oxide 250 mg taken before each meal and at bedtime (not pre-mixed with calcium)
6) Calcium carbonate with Vit D at dinner and bedtime (not pre-mixed with magnesium)
7) Vit C 1000 mg before each meal (can take ester-C form if regular C causes too much acid)
8) Vit E 400 IU twice a day at breakfast and dinner
9) Cinnamon 1/4 tsp in food or 2x500mg caps before each meal if over weight, diabetic, have a cholesterol problem, hypoglycemia, polycystic ovarian syndrome, metabolic or low energy symptoms.
10) 2 packets of Knox gelatin in warm water after dinner PLUS 2 hours sleep before midnight produces growth hormone for hair, nails, healing, wrinkles and growth in adolescents, young adults.
3. To better understand how your health is affected by the current excess Omega 6:3 ratio is, see http://efaeducation.nih.gov/ For omega-6 in individual foods see: www.nutritionaldata.com/facts
