Question As a custodial parent, in Florida, whose children receive social security because of my age, not disability, is this income considered in any way towards my income in the calculation of the Child Support Guidelines Worksheet.
Where can I research statue or case law regarding this issue? Thanks, DKM
Answer Hi David, the SS benefits you receive is used to calculate you income for calculating child support. The child support received by the child reduces the total amount of child support needed by the child. To research the statutory or case law regarding this matter see Findlaw.com and/or Westlaw.com or you can go to your local library or law school and research the materials in print form.
I hope this information was helpful to you.
This answer is based solely on the information you have provided in your question and as always, I would advise that you arrange for an in person consultation with an attorney from my firm or another Family Law attorney familiar with Florida Family Law who can analyze the specific facts and circumstances of the case more closely to better advise you.
