Family Law (Divorce, Family Relations) - Filing Charges against EX for moving

Expert: Jeff Laatsch - 10/21/2009

Question
Hi Jeff...You answered my question the other night about my boyfriend's ex moving out of state w/his children w/o permission. Thank you so much for that..it was a big help! Now, my boyfriend would like to know if we file charges against her, does it have to be where she used to live (Brunswick, GA) or can he file where we live (Byron, GA) since she is in Arkansas? Thanks, again, Jeff.

DISCLAIMER:
I AM NOT A LAWYER or ATTORNEY. I am someone who has experience with family law issues, and am sharing my OPINION only. For the exact law as it pertains to your specific case contact a Professional Attorney in your area/county/country.

I recommend hiring a Professional Attorney: Most Attorneys offer 1/2 free consultation time to discuss case and payment options.

Where ever ex moved from: That is Dad remained in same place but Mom moved. The place I would think would be the same place the divorce took place (Brunswick, GA). CHECK With attorney. Remember when dealing with Family court cases: They are COUNTY/State Specific.  So if Mom lived in Brunswick, GA which is in Glynn County then that is where the legal paperwork must be filed.
Glynn County Historic Courthouse 701 G Street Brunswick, GA 31520 ...

AGAIN work with the Attorney to be exact.

Kind Regards,
Jeff
