Family Law (Divorce, Family Relations) - Help For my Father

Expert: James Robinson - 7/5/2009

Question
Parents divorced when I was 7. Father stopped paying child support when I decided to move in with him at 12 years old. I wasnt aware at that age that I had to sign an affidavit. He owes 6 years of child support that he shouldnt pay for. How can I get this resolved for my dad? He is tired of fighting the system and I need to step up. Thanks.

Answer
Dear Marcus

Your Dad has to make a motion to strike arreages and have a hearing to tell the Court you have lived with him since you were 12. I don't know what "system" your Dad is fighting but he needs to file the motion in order to stop the child support and erase the back child support.
