Question Hi, I am looking for a book that I read as a child. My mother purchased it new at a school bookfair in the 1970's, although she believes it may have been a republished edition that previously had a different title. It is set in Germany during the Holocaust. Jewish children are being hidden in a German Catholic school, and the German children are trying to help them hide. I think later the Jewish children are moved to a cave. Sorry I can't give you more to go on.

Sorry this took so long. I am in the process of moving inter-continentally and have been away from the computer a lot.
To answer your question, I read a book similar to what you described called Waiting for Anya, which involved a local man and an old woman hiding children. The whole town becomes involved and, at one point, the children all get moved to a cave. I don't recall any church, but it might be similar. This is the closest I know, without more info.
