About Alex Expertise Who is the author of ...? I like reading this kind of book, what books do you suggest I read? I can't find the next book in this series, would you happen to be able to find it for me?
I am very notable on referring people to great books. If you tell me the kind of books you like or some of the big titles you loved reading, I am fairly sure I can point you in the direction of another great book.
Experience
Education/Credentials I am currently enrolled in a school which encourages students to read a wide variety of books among other things. Though this school requires me to read different genres, I prefer SciFi and Fantasy.

Question I am anxiously awaiting to read the next installment to Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. Instead of rereading the previous books in the series(again) I thought I might start on another series. I am relatively new to the Fantasy genre, so I'm not sure where to start.
Another fantasy series that I really like is Greg Keyes's The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone. An all time favorite of mine would be Orson Scott Card's Ender's series. This series is more sci-fi than I'm looking for right now, with the space setting and aliens. I mention it because it is a great example of writing style and character development that I enjoy.
Perhaps I should include my dislikes as well. Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. This might have been the worst book I've ever read with the exception of some tawdry romance novels and a few things I was forced to read in high school. The dialogue was unrealistic and at time just silly and cheesy. Silly and cheesy probably sums up the entire book pretty accurately.
I also must mention Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince. I've read the first installment to Dragon Prince. I'm not calling the book bad. It has a pretty good premise and I was expecting to like it. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough interest or likability in the main characters for me to continue the series.
Harry Potter. I had not read the series. Although, it has been recommended to me several times I just don't want to read it. I've seen the movies. I understand that seeing the movies is not the same as reading the book. I should have read the books before seeing the movies but I can't go back in time.
Answer Hmm..
I am quite certain I have already answered this question, but I cannot find it in the databases, so here we go... again.
Of the several series you have listed, you have struck me on my all time favorite, A Song of Ice and Fire, and one of my other favorites, Ender's Game.
As to the point of A Song of Ice and Fire, I would suggest a series called Eye of the World, by Robert Jordan. This series is a little more magical, but it has the same excellent battle scenes that Martin's does. Another problem is that it is a slightly lower grade level...
On to the mention of Ender's Game.
If you are a more advanced reader, and do not mind quite a bit of philosophy in your readings, I would suggest the Dune series by Frank Herbert. Though the series starts off slow, it will suck you in once it starts going. I would like to emphasize, however, that it is a very advanced book.
I am sure you have seen Star Wars, but I must suggest reading the books. They are much better than watching the movies, and there is so much more in them. There are many story lines that are completely nonexistent in the movies!
If you do not like these suggestions, please write back and I will be more than happy to try to help you more.
