About Santa Lucia
Expertise
I am a lover of fantasy turned on to the genre by my older sister and have read series by Mercedes Lackey, MZBradley, Melanie Rawn, Jennifer Roberson, Kate Elliott, Ursula LeGuin, Andre Norton, Robin Hobb, Elizabeth Lynn, Piers Anthony, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Elizabeth Moon, and many others. I love talking about books and getting suggestions on what to take on next!

Experience
I have read and written a multitude of stories and when I was fourteen bought over 300 fantasy novels in one year. I have read almost all of them by now and am constantly acquiring more.

Question
heres a bit ive remembered about the book,
dm was in the library with a book he keeps refering to.
a boy an girl couple go together(i think0 as she doesnt want to wonder around on her own.
they have to find objects which i believe include a sword in the basement guarded by an octupos creature, a ring the attic with a ghost maid, that one can see while the another can hear, and a staff in the drawing room.

Answer
Brett,
I have read all of the information you gave me, including a bunch of kids in an abandoned house, playing a game in which one stays in the library and others go searching for things. They have to go past an octopus and other strange creatures to collect every thing, and eventually the characters are taken over by strange spirits.

I am afraid that I am not at all familiar with this story-line.  I wish I could help more, but I am at a loss.  There are several people I can forward this to, friends who have read quite a bit of fantasy as well.  I will ask if they have any ideas and get back to you if they do!

In the meantime, I recommend looking around at your local used bookstore, as they always prove helpful for me!  I wish you the best of luck.

Lucia
