Question
My daughter is in an ice skating competition to which she is skaking to "jump, jive, and jazz".  Her costume is a black and silver lame straight skirt with a matiching camisole.  I need to add a prop to her costume, and can't come up with something from the 40's.  A boa would be from the 20's.  A fedora?  A cane (black with white or silver tips)?  Any suggestions?

Answer
I haven't got any of my historical costuming books with me at the present time as I am not at home currently, however- I am almost positive that the straight cane would be great! It would complete the costume and give it some flare. Kudos to her for her choice of song, I love it! Best of luck with the show.

Timothy
