Question I would like to know what some of the evening clothes and everyday clothes were like for women in the 40's, but after the war when cloth rationing was gone. Thanks!
P.S. cool! I'm your first question!
Answer Hi Lizzy!
After the war the big look in fashion Christian Dior's "new look". It debuted in 1947. It was ultra-feminine in response to the more masculine, uniform looking of clothing during the war. It was characterized by a fitted jacket, really nipped in at the waist, and full skirt that went to mid-calf. It was said that his "lavish" use of fabric was shocking after the rationing of fabric in WW2. For day, the jacket could also be worn with a straigt mid-calf skirt.
Evening clothes were in the same silhouette, often strapless fitted or boned tops and A line, full skirts. A very glamorous and feminine look.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions!
Thanks for being my first one :)
