Question
Hey there wonder if you could help.Im 24 and 5'10,most of the height comes from legs and i have a shorter torso.I would like to even things out so i dont look all legs.
Many thanks

Answer
Hi Cheryl,
To lengthen the appearance of your torso, and thereby shortening the appearance of your legs you need to follow a few simple tips: Keep in mind, that what you are doing is camouflaging the real waistline, and trying to make your waistline appear lower than it really is. This trick will in turn provide balance to your overall proportions.

If at all possible, avoid clothing that begins and ends at your waist. Example avoid jeans with a t-shirt tucked into the waist. Why? Because it only accentuates the fact that you have a high waist. Instead wear your shirt outside the pants.

Avoid jackets or blouses or sweaters or shirts that have hems that end above the hips. A denim Levi jacket would be too short for your body type, for instance or any jacket that is short like that. You should wear your jackets at about where the leg and the hip bone meet, down where your leg creases. This balances out your body type, by lengthening the torso and shortening the leg area.

If you must wear suits at work, and you need to tuck your blouse in be sure to buy a blouse that is the same color as the skirt if at all possible. This will help hide the waistline.

Wear long jackets, tunics, or shirts that are not tucked in.
Wear low rider jeans. You are one of the few body types that can get away with wearing low rise jeans. This time it is ok to tuck your t=shirt in because it balances your torso by making your waist appear lower than it really is.

As far as dresses. Avoid a dress that has a waistline, which would only accentuate your high waist. Dresses with lowered waistlines, or sheaths with no waist would be best.

I hope this is helpful information: Please be sure to write back if you need more clarification.

Best wishes
