Fashion Tips - body shape

Question
Hi, I am a 'V' shape, broad shoulders, back and big breasts, but slim every where else with really thin long legs.  I find it extremely difficult to find dresses that suit my shape, I can never do up zips, and if i do they make me look like im overweight. I am really annoyed at retailers who don't cater for slim people with big breasts.  I wonder if you could give me some advice on what would be the best things to wear.

Answer
Hi Sarah
Unfortunatley retailers typically cater to women whose bodies are slim and straight. That is why so many of us are forced to wear clothes that do not look good on us!

I am not sure what you mean by zip ups. Please explain!

You may have to go with separates instead of dresses, which like I said are designed for women whose bodies are straight up and down.

You should try to find a dress shop for tall women, since your legs are so long. You are lucky in that you can wear jeans that have a lot of detail on them, such as stitching, and pockets, belts are good for you too! SO in essence you will be accentuating your body from the waist down with skirts or pants with details, ruffles, stitching or fullness, brighter colors will also work. This will balance your top by increasing the appearance of your bottom.

What you need to do with your body from the waist up is to 'downplay' the upper body. DO this by wearing darker, muted colors, simpler styles, avoid prints or a lot of texture, wear smooth plain tops like sleeveless shells or long sleeve t=shirts. If you are wanting to dress up a bit, you can wear the same style in a dressier slinkier material. Avoid collars or extra details on the shirt or blouse. Wear earrings instead to go glam. This will minimuze your wide chest and  accentuate your lower body, balancing the V=shape and achieving a more equalized look top to bottom

Hope this helps!
