Fashion Tips/Korean leather jacket
Expert: Patrick Dean - 10/25/2009
Questionhi...i have a leather jacket
(Finished leather, not shearling ,G1 style ) which is
abt 15 yrs old.The hang tag says, Made in korea.(written in english )but the product description tag is in
japanese language.it says;
Descriptive Label
Outer material Sheepskin
Lining Acetate 50% Nylon 50%
Batting Polyester 100%
And in illustrations:
Do not wash, No chlorine or bleaching, Do not iron, Do not
dry clean.
The back of the tag says
1)Washing (including those types using
benzene) or washing
with water will discolor and harden the leather.
2) Do not stack, store in a place with low temperature
and
humidity with good circulation of air, and especially in
the
rainy season, dry in the shade.
3) When cleaning the leather, use a specialized cleaner
for
leather clothing. For suede products, use an eraser and a
brush to remove dirt.
4. When ironing, use low temperature, cover the leather
with thick paper or cloth, and avoid the use of steam
irons.
(Note: there is an apparent misprint in item 3, so it is
unclear whether a type of brush was specified.)
My ques is there is no company name there.only a leather
patch attached just
below collar on inside says, 'authentic, standard
design,american air force,strictly aviators.
'
do u have any idea abt it? can u give me any hint abt the
korean company who made such jackets ?
My second ques is can i use lexol leather conditioner on my
jacket ? Pls help me.
AnswerWithout seeing the jacket in all honesty I would not recommend anything but bringing it to professional leather cleaner to have it cleaned. If you really want to use Lexol to condition it, try testing it on a small area on an inside facing where you won't see it on the outside in case the Lexol leaves marks or stains. I have no idea about Korean companies who make these jackets.
