Subject: Grant to build a school gym

Question
Hello

My daughter's school is an independent, not-for-profit educational corporation having no affiliation with any church or government agency. The school is a parent-owned corporation governed by an elected (volunteer) Board of Directors. Primary support of the corporation is from tuition, charitable donations, fund-raising, and grant awards, not from tax or church funds.

We are trying to raise funds to build a gymnasium.  Can you tell me how to find grant programs to assist?

Thanks
Cindy

Answer
Hi, Cindy:  Thanks for the question.  The best place to get started would be to go to: www.grants.gov which offers a number of search options and criteria to find grants that might pertain to your school gymnasium.  Finding a specific grant for your needs will be the difficult task.  I would also contact your state and federal district representatives' offices and ask them if they can provide you with assistance in finding any funding that might be available both at the state and at the federal levels.

Best of Luck!

RM
