Subject: Grants for computers

Question
Hi,
I'm looking for a grant to supply computers to a non-profit agency in Fargo, ND that deals with suicide prevention and offers a suicide and crisis hotline that is answered 24 hrs a day.  The computers they have are old and do not work well and we have chosen this organization to try to help find new computers.

Answer
Hi, Melissa:  Thanks for the question.  Your best bet in this case would be to contact you local, state and federal offices and see if any of them are in the process of upgrading their computers and/or systems.  They often will donate their used computers to another non-profit agency.  Depending on how many computers you need, you might also contact one or several computer companies that might be willing to donate one or two computers for the publicity of doing so.  I would also contact your state representative's district office to see if they know of anything available at the state level.

Good Luck!

RM
