Subject: Handicap accesible Volunteer Fire Company

Question
I am the President for Lake Ariel Fire Company Auxiliary, We are interested in putting in a elevator , because our hall is upstairs and our handicap and elderly cannot attend our fundraising functions which we soley depend on for all our builing equipment for our volunteer fireman. Things just keep getting tougher for us. Are there any funding to help us take on such a major improvement.
Thank you
Linda Pontosky

Answer
Hi, Linda:  Thanks for the question.  You can go to:  www.grants.gov and search the categories that might apply for your elevator.  I would definitely contact your congressional district office and perhaps pay them a personal visit concerning your project.  Our congressman here in NW PA is constantly getting our local volunteer fire departments federal money and grants for new equipment.  It might be well worth your time.  Best of Luck!
