Federal Government Contract/Grants/Purchasing - Building Housing for Ex-convicts

Expert: Rich Mihalic - 10/26/2009

Question
Are their federal or state grants available for persons/companies building new housing or remodling existing stuctures to house convicts recently released from prison and help them reconnect into the community?

Answer
Hi, Kathy:  Thanks for the question.  You can go to:  www.grants.gov and search using the key words "grants for housing for recently released convicts".  You can also search the Housing & Urban Development (HUD) web site to see if they are offering any of these types of grants.  In addition, go to your state's web site and see if they are offering any grants in this area.  Also contact the district office of your state representative to see if they can be of assistance.

Good Luck!
