Question
I am wondering if there would be a grant available to make our museum accessible. Because we are  museum we are in a historical building which is not accessible. As we are a non profit we are always looking for funding sources to help us keep our doors open. Our community is a great source of support but not enough money available for an expensive elevator. Is there help out there.
Thank you Sharon Kotter

Answer
Hi, Sharon:  Thanks for the question.  You can go to:  www.grants.gov and search using the key words "grants for handicap accessibility", "grants for elevators", etc.  You can also go to the U.S. Department of the Interior and search their web site for any grants.  In addition, contact the National Historical Society to see if they are aware of any grants for HA.  I am sure they have had inquiries on this subject from many other organizations.

Good Luck!
