Question My name is Officer Damian Ballantine. I work for the Sheboygan County Sheriffs Department of Corrections, in Sheboygan, WI. We are currently trying to raise funds to facilitate a health and wellness, plus, a weight training room at the Detention Center for the Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) and staff. The amount of money I would like to request would be thirty thousands dollars ($30,000). The money would be used to purchase weight and tactical training equipment. As of now, we have been able to convert a conference room into a Health and Wellness room that we are allowed to use. I am wondering if you could lead me in the direction that would better meet my needs. I have been able to raise approximately $12,000 by local supporters. the well is getting dry and I was wondering if there is more out there.
Thank you,
Officer Damian Ballantine

Answer Hi, Damian: Thanks for the question. You can go to: www.grants.gov and search using the key words "grants for Emergency Response Teams", "grants for Departments of Corrections", or whatever else you might want to look at. I would also suggest checking out the FEMA web site for any possible grant assistance. In addition, contact the district office of your congressman/woman and the district office of your state representative to see if they can be of assistance in finding funding for your health & wellness center. Also search your state's web site under the category of "grants".
Good Luck!
