Subject: split stairs in entrance

Question
Hi Judy, I bought a new house which is under construction,
the double door with transom is facing south, there is a split stairs right in the entrance. as soon as you enter the main entrance, on your right hand side is a 9 steps flight of stairs to the main floor(living room),to your left is a 4 steps stairs to the basement long hall.bedrooms on the second floor. I know it is a fengshui no no to have split stairs in the entrance which causes confusion. I plan to build a door to block the left hand basement tunnel. what can I do about the stairs going up to the living room? there is a mirrored closet at the top of the stairs. Thank you Fay

Answer
Dear Fay,

This kind of split stairs should not be a problem. You have a lovely ming tang in which to collect qi brought in through the door. It is perfectly logical to have stairs going up and down. The qi will follow wherever you walk.

Thank you for your question.
