Question
My ferret is peeing green. He has normal poop. He is approx eight years old. can this condition be contagious to humans or other animals? I have seen virus can cause this uti or liver problrms prostrat issuses heartworm .  What is used to treat green pee? Thank You

Answer
Dear Kathy,

It sounds like Your furry little friend might have a urinary problem.  He needs to see a vet ASAP.   No, the problem is not contagious but needs immediate attention.

Ferrets live to be from 5 to 7 years old.  I've had two that lived to nine.  So, these problems do arise with age.  But, knowing hat you certainly love your little guy, it's very wise to seek the knowledge that a vet can give. I'm sure you want his last years to be as comfortable as possible.  After all, they do give so much love in return.

Please keep me posted as to his recovery as I am very concerned for both of you.

Warm Regards,
Janet
