Fibromyalgia - Please resond soon...I am in a lot of pain.

Expert: Kathleen Lewis - 11/1/2006

Question
I have just went to the doctor and I thought I had Restless Leg Symdrome, so the doctor gave me medication for it, and I have been taking it for a few days and it hasn't helped me yet. I forgot to tell my doctor that my mother has fibromyalgia. Should I call the doctor and tell him right away or should I keep taking the medication I am on. I am in a lot of pain, so if I need to tell him please let me know. Also please let me know what you think, if you think I may have it. My symptoms are: My legs are in a lot of pain. I feel like I need to stretch all the time but it doesn't releive it. Sometimes it hurts in different spots of my legs and sometimes it hurts my whole legs. It kinda feels like they are cold when the rest of my body is warm. I don't only hurt in my leg though, my hands hurt when I hold things. Like a pen or a book or even a cell phone. My shoulders hurt a lot when I have to sit at a desk, and they crackel and pop when I move them. My arms also hurt when my shoulders or hands are hurting. I have been hurting in my knees for years but now it seems like it is all over my body. Please advise me as soon as you can.
Thank You so much.

Answer
Hi Starla,
It sounds like you need to get back in to see to the doctor.  Continue to take the medication that he suggested.

Keep a list of all your symptoms, problems that are bothering you and when they started.  Also, list all other meds that you are taking.

A rheumatologist is the specialist that seem to know more about FM.

Hope you feel better.

God bless and take care!
