Question My husband is seeking a fibromyalgia doctor and we started looking under pain management doctors first. Of the ones we called so far, only one is treating it and his first appointment isn't until December. Are there other specialties that treat this?
Thanks, Jen
Answer Hi Jennifer,
Usually, people with fibro are referred to a rheumatologist first. Even though fibro is not a form of arthritis, for some reason it falls into the rheumatology category. As always, ask first if the doctor is very familiar with and treats fibromyalgia before making an appointment, as there are still docs out there that don't even believe that fibromyalgia is actual condition.
