About Dianne DeLeeuw
Expertise
I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.

Question
Hi There,

I have a 10 year old daughter that consistently lands axels and double sals and is working on all other double jumps.

It is time for new skates and I want to make sure I am buying with my research done, especially considering the cost of skates.  She currently skates in a Riedell 320 with a stealth blade and has skated in Riedells since she started skating.  (only because that is what i was told to buy)  She is pretty tiny so I am looking for a light boot strong enough for someone doing doubles.  Any advice??  If you can't endorse a certain company can you at least give me some direction on how I can research this.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi,
If Riedell has done you well you may want to stick with them.  Other choices...Harlick light or SP Teri (both a bit tough to break in).  Jackson will also do a light version of their 3500 GREAT!
For blades: I like Ultima FS, but it would be a HUGE upgrade.  MK Professional is a good choice or Ultima Legacy.
Ultimately your coach should direct you.  They are the DR who sends the prescription to the shop.
Good luck,
Dianne
