Question
hello. i'm 13 and in pre juv. i'm working on my double axel and they are getting really good. but they are a half turn cheat. i have two coaches who work on them with me. Glyn Watts and Tonia Kwiatkowski. they work on them with me quite alot. but i just cant get the full rotation. i work on them off ice. but that doesnt really seem to be helping. what can i do to help it.

Answer
Hi,
You have great coaches to work with.  Follow their instructions.  If you are only Pre-Juv you are more than likely just not strong enough.  They will get there with time and work.  Off ice does not always help as you tend to turn your foot on the take off.  Check in with your coaches about this.  Do some harness work also to feel a clean landing.
Good luck,
Dianne

Expertise

I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
