Expertise
I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.

Experience
Experience: World Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist, coaching all levels of skaters at in California. I coach all levels and ages of skating from tiny tots to adults, first timers to International competitors. I also do choreography, music editing, teach specialty classes and give seminars.

Publications: Recreational Ice Skater, The Edge

Awards: 1976 Olympic Silver Medalist, 1975 World Champion, 1976 European Champion, 6 time National Champion, US and Canadian Double Gold Medalist, 1999 ISI Great Skate Award, 2002 Woman of the Year

Figure Skating - beginner boots

Expert: Dianne DeLeeuw - 1/6/2009

Question
i am a beginner. I know how to skate but everything I know is self taught. I finally signed up for a class ( I know they will tell me everything I know is wrong. lol) The boots I learned with don't fit properly so I want to invest in a new pair. What do you suggest for a beginner that is good quality, I know I like the sport so I don't mind the price, you get what you pay for. I have been looking at the Riedell line because I heard they were top quality, I have also looked at ccm and jackson, but I am unsure. what make and model do you suggest for someone like me (19 yrs, 130 lbs)Also I have a weak right ankle from an injury so I need good padding and support.

Answer
Hi,
I like Jackson or Reidell.  Whichever fits your foot best.  Go to a good pro shop affiliated with a rink and get fitted properly!  Your coach can also help.  Remember they are the doctor writing a prescription for you to take to the shop.
Hope this helps!
Dianne
