Question
I have my axel and it's extremely consistent as in 5/5 times I will usual land
all the way around with hight to the jump. my coach on my last lesson had
me attempt double sow's. she started me doing sow into a backspin. then just attempt the double sow itself. I actual landed it. can you give me tips on the
most common problems or habit's skaters can pick up with double jumps
including the double sow. thanks so much

Answer
Hi,
First of all it is a "Salchow".  Skaters need to know proper skating terms and history!
The jump is just like the axel once you get up into it.  Double jumps need alot of work on controling arms and free leg.  Try to cross ankles not wrap your free leg.  The backspin jump out works the air position and landing.  Sounds like you are doing great!
Good luck,
Dianne

Expertise

I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
