Figure Skating/Flying Sit Spin

Question
How to do a flying sit spin..?

Should you swing your leg around like in the normal sit, then jump up, or jump and then swing your leg around while still in the air..? What is the movement pattern of the arms..?

Should the jump be of an clean edge, or should you have a little skid..?

Sincerely yours
Stephanie

Answer
Hi,
There are many ways to teach this.  I do this:
Jump off a clean edge, The free leg comes around as you jump, arms come around like a spin and the skating foot tucks up.

But there are many modifications if these things don't work for you, we are not all robots and do everything alike!
Good luck,
Dianne

Expertise

I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
