Question
My daughter is having trouble entering into the lutz, completing the full revolution and landing properly.  Can you offer any suggestions?

Answer
Hi,
Lutz is tough to do correctly.  The take off edge is most important that it is on the outside edge.  I try many techniques with my students to get this jump.  Sometimes a long edge, sometimes a mohawk, or cross step.  Please have your coach choose the method they like and what works for her.
Be patient...don't sacrifice the entry edge to get around. I would rather you take this up with her coach as I cannot properly diagnose her problem on-line!
Good luck,
Dianne

Expertise

I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
