Question
My daughter who is and has been skating for 5 years. Told me the other day that she is quitting skating as in her words its not fun anymore. She has been landing her doubles and has her axial...anything I should do or just respect her decision?

Answer
Hi,
This is common!  Is there school pressures or issues?  Please talk to her coach.  Maybe you can come up with a plan depending on her age.
examples: try Showcase events or ISI events for "fun", test only to try and "testout', join a team like synchro or theater.

Sometimes they need a break from pressure and really do still want to skate.  But at some point you will have to decide to keep spending on a sport she is not interested in or move on.
Good luck,
Dianne

Expertise

I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
