I am a 23 year old skating coach who just recently decided to try to finish her tests. I am on Novice Moves and Juvenile Freeskate. My question is about adding double jumps back into my skating. My single jumps are all good and my axel is almost back. When should I start adding doubles back? I have tried some dbl salchows but am having trouble crossing my feet. Any suggestions to correct this? This was also a problem when I was younger as well. I am currently working without a coach because I am in grad school and cannot afford it. Also, I am finding that certain patterns on the Novice test are much more difficult for me because I don't trust myself with the turns. Do you have any suggestions for exercises to help with the patterns? Especially the rocker choctaws. Okay, thanks so much for your time!
Answer Hi,
Sounds like you will know when to try doubles. You need axel to feel good first. As for the MIF start working turns in isolation to gain confidence! Remember you can also do the Adult Golds to gain experience in front of judges first! Check it out! The US Figure Skating rule book is now on line to get what you need.
Good luck,
Dianne
I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
