Figure Skating/how much in how long?!

Question
Hi! I just started skating three months ago or so, and am in freestyle 3/4/5-ish, which means I'm really in freestyle three but they have me practicing with the freestyle 5 girls during the group lessons inst. I really really love skating, as in I can't put into words how much i love it, but I don't know how much to do. I know I'm not good enough to have a shot at the olympics, but I was wondering if I should try and compete a lot or just skate for fun. I know that there isn't a right or wrong answer, but is there anything I should take into consideration for if/when I decide? Thank you so much!!

Answer
Hi,
Work hard because you want to see how good you can be.  You need a coach to guide you.  Start with formal testing and get a routine ready for competition.  See how you like this aspect, then you can better decide how much to put into skating.
Good luck,
Dianne

Expertise

I can answer questions about figure skating, choreography, ISI or USFSA. Also questions about competing (my Olympic experience or your own competition). I`m a National referre for ISI. Recently I also have been appointed a National Technical Specialist for US Figure Skating. But remember I am not your substitute for a coach! They can see what you are doing! To correct or instruct you on manuevers is really not what I want to do.
