Experience Have been using FileMaker since 1989 in our business. We have 10 users on the network who use these databases every day. Our largest databases have had over 30,000 records at one time. In 1995 one of my files was chosen as "Most Unique Database" in a contest sponsored by Claris, maker of FileMaker. Recently I have developed a set of files for new computer system installed at our church.
Question I am making an inventory in FM9. I don't want only a list of goods: I want to input an initial quantity and, subsequently, I want to input purchases and sales. How I can update quantities?

So what you want is an actual inventory that will be adjusted when you have a sale and deduct items from the inventory?
This is fairly easy. What I would recommend is two tables: Inventory and Sales. Inventory will simply be a record for each item coming into the store. Sales will be a selected amount of inventory which will be marked as sold. When you desire to see a list of current inventory, you merely find all inventory without an invoice (sales) number.
