Experience Have been using FileMaker since 1989 in our business. We have 10 users on the network who use these databases every day. Our largest databases have had over 30,000 records at one time. In 1995 one of my files was chosen as "Most Unique Database" in a contest sponsored by Claris, maker of FileMaker. Recently I have developed a set of files for new computer system installed at our church.
Question Sup,
1) In a data enrty form how do I switch the tab order around and also os there away to make my "Enter" key tab just like the "Tab" key?
2) How can I make a field auto-fill by first letter typed?
Answer Hello Rick;
If you are using version 3, there are no easy ways to do what you want to do. If you can upgrade to version 8 or 9, it is quite easy.
To switch the tab order around, go to Layout mode, LAYOUT menu, and Choose SET TAB ORDER.
To use the enter key as the tab key,
Go to layout mode. Go to FORMAT menu, FIELD/CONTROL, and BEHAVIOR and choose go to next object using and click the Enter key.
To auto-fill a field,
click on the field you want to edit, go to the FORMAT menu, FIELD/CONTROL, SETUP and click "Auto-complete using previously entered values"
