Question
Hi Art
I do want to take up to much of your time but i need an answer from the horses mouth if you pardon the expression. I have ploughed through the internet and read books but i can't get a straight answer.
All I need to know a the moment is "what is the meaning of a Cash Flow Forecast".
Could you help.
Thanks
Alan

Answer
Hi Alan,

Thanks for your question.  Cash flow forecast is not a term that I recall hearing before, but let me take a stab at it.  I suspect that it's a forecast, issued by a company or more likely by an analyst, that discussed a company's anticipated cash flow in some future period.  Cash flow usually refers to the change in a company's cash position over a quarter or year.  Cash flow is documented on a company's cash flow statement in its annual report, which is divided into three sections: 1) cash flow from operations, 2) cash flow from investing activities and 3) cash flow from finaning activities.  I guess that a forecast would estimate these three components.

You may want to read an article on my website (http://www.mmzero-llc.com/fp/investing/invest0011c.htm) that discusses the cash flow statement.

If you can give me some more detail about where your question is coming from, maybe I can offer a better answer.

Also, you may find my free email newsletter interesting.  I cover money management topics that range from budgeting to investing to insurance.  You can sign up at the website (www.mmzero-llc.com/fp) or by sending me an email.

I hope this helps...
