Question hi expert!
the task
It is to write a report for the senior vice president of your company (not a real one) but report should be as though your reader has requested it.
Your reader will make a decision as a result of reading your report. You must therefore decide the purpose of your report. Do you intend to inform, or to persuade your reader ?
Your report must investigate alternatives (preferably three alternatives), weigh up the evidence for each one, and justify why you believe your final choice is best.
You need to establish criteria against which you will compare each alternative. Use three or four criteria. Price is not a criterion. Your reader simply wants to know which choice is best, and why it's the best choice.
I'm thinking about softwares in a company such as Executive information systems etc.. I was wondering if you can help me with the report and how to start.

hi josee!
it's sue. I'm doing an english analytical report which presents suggested solutions to problems such as reports of scientific research, feasibility reports by firms etc. The topic i was thinking of doing is on the updating of a computer software/system at workplaces to allow employees to work efficiently etc..
I was just wondering if you can give me some ideas to get me started as to the type of software, alternatives, criteria and weights and allow for comparison to enable the reader to know what choice is best and why it's best choice. Can you give me posible ideas in how to organize around criteria, discussing alternatives under criteria and how you compare and the choice.
Thank you!

kkemper1@Mindspring.com
i will assume josee gets back to
you
Answer i gave you my name and my email address yet you
"seemed" to have ignored both.
hmmm
[in the school assignment, you are to presume---}
type of company?
budget for project?
due when?
etc.
The type of report would be easy to ID if the
person giving you the assignment were to be more alert
themselves.
IT is rare that a report is to sell or convince.
A memo can do anything. IF a superior says "get me the data to SELL ME on what you want done--that is obvious.
If a vp says "we must decide on either to use photo voltaic
or continue to use the local power company--u need
sell them on nothing; just use facts and analysis.
