Question
I how some old KinderCare stock that I was given as an employee of the company in the early to mid 70's at different times as a form of profit sharing.  How can I fin out what they are worth, if anything?

Answer
Kristie,
Thank you for your question!
It appears that KinderCare no longer trades under that name. I did some google searches and searched http://finance.yahoo.com, and there is no public company that I can find trading under that name. I do see that the company certainly still exists, with their main website at www.KinderCare.com
It is very possible that they are either private and no longer trade, or were aquired by another company and trade through a different name now.
I did some more google searches along this line of thought, and found that in November of 2004 the company, the company was bought out by Knowledge Learning Corp. Here is a link to the article I found:
http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2004/11/08/daily2.html

So it certainly appears that KinderCare stock is no longer traded, and that shareholders were effectively bought out in 2004 for just under $26 per share. You could have cashed in your shares at that time, but it is possible that you could still benefit. I would suggest that you contact either KinderCare or Knowledge Learning Corp about this, to see if you can still cash in your shares. There very well may be some sort of time limit that has expired, but it is worth asking about.

Here is a link to Knowledge Learning Corporations "investor relations" web page: http://www.knowledgelearning.com/investor-relations/

There is contact information on that page, and they can give you exact information on the value of your current shares, if any, and what to do from there.

I hope that this is helpful, please do not hesitate to follow up with me if I can be of any additional service,

Sincerely,
Paul Henneman
