Question
Could someone tell me if "The Lost Soldier Oil Company" (1917) certificate and "Peoples Gas and Oil Development Company" (1937)certificates would be worth pursuing for any value?  I am anxious to see if they hold any value.  Thank You for your time!!

Answer
Debbie,
   Thank you for your question!
I did some quick searches and those two companies do not appear to be currently traded.
However, there is always a small possibility that they were acquired or merged with another company that is still active. There is no real way to know for sure unless you have a professional search performed. Here is a link to a page with some information regarding this:

http://www.sec.gov/answers/oldcer.htm

If you do choose to spend some time on this and do the research yourself, these links may be helpful:

or
http://www.dfi.wa.gov/consumers/oldstock.htm

There is also the possibility that the certificate itself has value to a collector, even if there is no trading value. Check out Ebay or google for stock certificate collector websites to see what you can find if the certificates prove to have no trading value.

I hope this helps get you going. Unfortunately the most likely scenario is that they will not be worth anythng, but there is always the possibility. Please do not hesitate to follow up with me if I can be of any additional service,

Sincerely,
Paul Henneman
