Financial Stocks/hello
Expert: Paul Henneman - 2/12/2009
Question HI! I want to be a stockbroker, but realize they also do things like IRA's and such. However, my main interest is in stocks/commodities. If I plan to take this route I want to make sure I am not just selling insurance and retirement funds all day. Is this the case? Also if brokers get paid on commission, is it hard to find clients? thanks!
AnswerThank you for your question!
Yes, if you are interested in stocks and commodities, then stockbroker would be a good career. Financial analysts really is the title and occupation for someone that works with investors to build a complete investment plan, including IRA's, life insurance, and other retirement accounts. Stockbrokers tend to work much more in stocks and commodities.
Also please realize that the financial industry is going through a huge contraction. Stockbrokers are being hit very hard, many are being let go. It will be very difficult to find a stock broker job for the next few years. Financial Advisors however have been less affected.
I hope that this helps! Please do not hesitate to follow up with me if I can be of any additional service.
Sincerely,
