Question
I have received a copy from my deceased fathers paperwork of CSX stock for 123 common shares which was been tranfered to my name in 1983. My father worked for the Chessie system for 28 years, and I'm wondering how many times this stock has split. I'm sure it was originally Chessie stock, also how would I go about finding if it has been cashed? If it has not been, what do I do with just a copy { both sides }? My mother suffers from memory loss, and is of no help. What if the original was stored in a safety box and has now become unclaimed property, my dad's been gone for almost 10 years?
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Answer
Find a local broker dealer in your area, and take the certificates into the the firm. They will look all this up and for free. They will then be able to give you the facts and check with the company. The best part of this is that this research is all for free.
